110918 AM Courage
Philippians
1:27-28 (ESV) 27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of
Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you
that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side
for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not frightened in anything by your
opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your
salvation, and that from God. Ephesians 6:12-13 (ESV) 12 For we do not
wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the
authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against
the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the
whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand firm. Joshua 1:5-9 (ESV) 5 No man shall be able to
stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I
will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. 6 Be strong and
courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore
to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, being
careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you.
Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good
success wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your
mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful
to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way
prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for
the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Hebrews 10:35-39 (ESV) 35
Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For
you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you
may receive what is promised. 37 For, “Yet a little while, and the coming one
will come and will not delay; 38 but my righteous one shall live by faith,
and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” 39 But we are not of
those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and
preserve their souls. Hebrews 13:5-9 (ESV) 5 Keep your life free from love of
money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never
leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” 7 Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 9 Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (ESV) 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing. 1 Samuel 30:6 (ESV) 6 And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. |
