Matthew
5:16 (ESV) 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that
they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Colossians 3:12-25 (ESV) 12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and
beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, umility, meekness, and patience, 13
bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another,
forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in
perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which
indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of
Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all
wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in
your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in
the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. 18
Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love
your wives, and do not be harsh with them. 20 Children, obey your parents in
everything, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not provoke your
children, lest they become discouraged. 22 Slaves, obey in everything those
who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers,
but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work
heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you
will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there
is no partiality. Ephesians 6:5-9 (ESV) 5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters
with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, 6 not by
the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing
the will of God from the heart, 7 rendering service with a good will as to
the Lord and not to man, 8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he
will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. 9 Masters, do
the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both
their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with
him. Ecclesiastes 3:9-13 (ESV) 9 What gain has the worker from his toil? 10 I
have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy
with. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put
eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done
from the beginning to the end. 12 I perceived that there is nothing better
for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; 13 also that
everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s
gift to man. 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12 (ESV) 9 Now concerning brotherly love you
have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught
by God to love one another, 10 for that indeed is what you are doing to all
the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more
and more, 11 and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and
to work with your hands, as we instructed you, 12 so that you may walk
properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one. Ephesians 6:8 (ESV) 8
knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the
Lord, whether he is a slave or free. Colossians 3:1-4 (ESV) 1 If then you
have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is,
seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above,
not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden
with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also
will appear with him in glory. |
