The Supper of the Victorious King and His
Conquerors A. We are gathered as modern disciples on this
first day of the week to break bread (Acts 20:7). B. We are gathered to fulfill a commandment of
our Lord who sacrificed himself (Luke 22:19-20). C. We are gathered to partake in what Paul
referred to as“the Lord’s Supper”(1 Cor 11:17-22). D. This is a part of our spiritual heritage,
an expressed expectation of God’s authoritative Son, a memorial of what he
gave for us, but what does it have to do with victory? I.

Conquerors A. Jesus’ life on earth was
repeatedly marked by humiliation (Psa 22:6-7; Isa 53:3; John 8:41;Matt 11:19;
26:65; Matt 27:27-31, 39-44). He forthrightly told his followers to expect
the same (Matt 5:11; 10:24-25; Rom 12:14-21). B. This is especially relevant in what we are
seeing in news from around the world. 1.
The work of Mohammed is based on being_____________, whatever the

on being insulted, in order to______the cost. C. A religion with no insulted Savior will not
endure insults to win the scoffers. D.
The message of Christianity: God accomplished his purpose through the
weakness, suffering, humiliation, and death of his Son, Jesus the Christ.
Jesus did this for people who were the cause of his suffering, humiliation,
and death. Christians who live in gratefulness and awe of Christ’s sacrifice
don’t seek revenge on those who mock them and their God (Phil 2:5-11). II.
