“Here I am to Worship
Psalm 29:2 – “”Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.””
We are instinctively worshipping creatures. Throughout time it is easy to see that humanity has always worshipped something – whether it the true and living God, or stones, wood, and temples made by human hands. (Acts 17:24, Deut.28:36) However, creation itself lets us know that genuine worship involves the one and only God.
Psalm 19:1- “”The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.””
So, living today in an enlightened age, how should I look at this concept of worship? What is it all about and how do I need to approach it?
1.) Fixing What is Broken
A.””What am I getting out of this?”” -No, worship is about the Lord (1 Chron.16:29; Ps. 96:8-9) He is the one who is worthy (Ps.150:6; Rev.5:2,9, 16)
B. Self-Centeredness destroys worship (Phil.2:3-4; Matt.23:12)
C.Worship is active, something we do – not something we just attend.(Luke 10:42; Acts 16:25) Evangelism, discipleship, and everything we gain spiritually grows out of worshipping; it’s not something we “”get”” from it (Acts 2; Isaiah 6; Luke 24)
2.) Worship with Purpose and Honor
A. Purpose. What is my purpose? __________________ (Psalm 95:6; Heb.12:28; Job 1:20-21)
B. Presence. What can I change about my presence? _____________ (Joshua 5:15; Ex.3:5; John 21:7;Ex.33:20; 1 Tim 6:16)
C. Praise. How can I do better in praise? ________________ (Isaiah 12:5; Psalm 77:13; 71:8; 8:1-9) “
