160214 AM Evangelism – Day by Day in 2016

Evangelism: Day by Day in 2016   A.  Day by day. That’s our congregational focus for 2016. To be “of Christ.” Every day. Everywhere. To       follow in the footsteps of the earliest Christians—men and women whose lives were powerfully       transformed (Acts 2:42-47). How did that transformation come about?      1.  Conviction was experienced by those who were willing to receive “the word of the cross.”      2.  Conviction through “the word of the cross” produced devotion to “the way of the cross.”      3.  Devotion to “the way of the cross” is fueled by awe.      4.  Fellowship with God and each other came to powerfully, visibly, tangibly shape everyday life. B.  Where does this ancient “newborn picture” of the Lord’s church ultimately lead?   ___________________: the sharing of good news A.  Involves four things:       1.  ________ ________ (Acts 3:12-26; 8:25, 40; 14:6-7, 21; 20:24)            2.  Someone to _____________ (Acts 4:20; 5:42; 8:1, 4; 14:15; 15:35; 26:16-18)        3.  Someone to ________ (Acts 3:11; 5:14; 6:7; 8:12, 30-31; 10:24)         4.  The act of _________________ (Acts 8:35; 13:32-33; 14:6-7; 17:1-3; 24:25; 28:30-31)  B.  Evangelism is sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with the aim of persuading someone else to respond to God’s        offer of grace.  C. “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15)… “Go therefore and make        disciples of all nations…” (Matt 28:19) in order that men and women might be…        1.  _______________ by the good news       2.  _______________ to the good news       3.  Moved to worship and serve in ______ of the            Author of the good news       4.  Bound together in ________________ by the             good news       5.  ______________ of the good news               “And the Lord added to their number                  day by day those who were being saved.”                                                                  (Acts 2:47)
