150726 AM The Higher Ways of the Lord

The Higher Ways of the Lord  Isaiah 55:8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Throughout the Bible, God shows us that He knows the best way for us to live, worship, and find salvation with Him. He is our designer and Creator; it stands to reason He would know the best way for us to accomplish all these things. Yet, mankind will consistently try and find its own way. When we reject God’s ways, or amend them to suit our own comfort, only difficulty will come.  1. We Can See God’s Purpose in His Way (Rom. 11:33-36, Psalm 33:11)  a. He knows us, uses us, tests us, and plans for us. (Jer.1:5, Job 42:2, Jer.29:11-13)   b. His love for us, His creation, has caused Him to make a Way for us to we could not have made ourselves (Eph.1:3-4, 3:8-11, 2:8-10)  2. Man’s Ways will not Lead us down the right Path  a. Wisdom shows us we cannot successfully direct our own steps (Prov.14:12, Jer. 10:23, Prov.20:24)  b. When men don’t follow the path God has given, there is no way to please the Lord (Think of Moses, Nadab & Abihu, Peter, Naaman, the conquest of Canaan)  c. “The Preacher” in Ecclesiastes considers that “way” and finds his own efforts lacking (Ecc. 1:12-14, 2:9-11, 12:13-14)  3. Realize that God Created us to Follow His Ways  a. Genesis 1 shows us what He made and that is was “very good” (Gen.1:26-31, Prov.3:5-6)  b. Live following His way (Matt.7:21, Luke 10:27, Matt.10:37-38)  c. Worship in His Way ( Heb 12:28, 10:24-25, Col.3:16-17)  d. Dealing with Sin (Matt.5:23-24, 18:15-17, Gal.6:1)  e. Finding Heaven (Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:37-38, 1 Pet. 3:21)  Follow His ways completely and the Higher Ways of the Lord will lead us toward His loving care.
