Past, Present, and Future Anthems of Victory   A.  The Bible contains all sorts of songs.      1.  Perhaps the earliest reference to a song is Job 38:4-7when the morning stars sang at Creation.       2.  There are at least 185songs in all—songs of praise, thanksgiving, an epic love song between a bride and groom, funeral dirges, songs that mourn Jerusalem’s fall, and songs of hope.   B.  With our congregational focus on victory, what can we learn from these ancient anthems?    I. ________Anthems of Victory        A. Exodus 15:1-18-the song of___________  1. “The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation” (15:2)    2. “In the greatness of your majesty you overthrow your adversaries” (15:7)  3. “Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods?” (15:11)  4. “You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed” (15:13)   B. 2 Samuel 22:1-51(Psa 18) -____________song of deliverance  1. “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer” (22:2)  2. “He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me” (22:20)  3. “For who is God, but the LORD? The Savior reigns; let men their songs employ.”   C.  “I hope to hear throughout unnumbered days, the song earth cannot know.”   D.  “Sing it o’er and o’er again: Christ receiveth sinful men.”   E.  “Near the cross! … Help me walk from day to day with its shadow o’er me.”   F.  “Sing on…the time will not be long till in our Father’s kingdom we swell a nobler song.”    III. _____________Anthems of Victory   A. Revelation 5:6-14-“To him be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”   B. Revelation 15:2-4-“Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty!”
