141123 AM Your Invitation to God’s Abundant Feast

Your Invitation to God’s Abundant Feast   A.  Imagine the frustration of telling your family, “All things are ready; come to the feast!” and watching      as they walk away, complaining about how hungry they are as they leave. B.  Perhaps, in some very small way, that helps us imagine how Jesus Christ must have felt.  I.  “Everything is Ready. Come…”      A.  The day before, Jesus had made his “triumphal entry” into Jerusalem and cleansed the temple.      B.  Today, upon entering the temple, his authority to do such things is immediately challenged.      C.  In response, he tells three parables: 1.  The parable of two sons called by their father to work in the vineyard (Matt 21:28-32). 2.  The parable of the wicked tenants of a vineyard (Matt 21:33-46). 3.  The parable of the wedding feast (Matt 22:1-14).      D.  Seven hundred years before, Isaiah had prophesied of the Messianic age (25:6-8). 1.  The host: “the _________ of hosts” 2.  The invited: “______ peoples” 3.  The occasion: “a _____________” 4.  The blessings: ___________ will be conquered, tears wiped away, reproach removed 5.  The assurance: “for the LORD has _____________”      E.  The parable of the wedding feast (Matt 22:1-14) 1.  The host: “a _________” (22:1-2a) 2.  The occasion: “a wedding feast for his _______” (22:2b) 3.  The invited: “those invited were not ___________” (22:3-8; 5:11-12; 23:29-31, 37-24:2) 4.  The blessings: “invite to the wedding feast as many as you ______” (22:9-10)  II.  “For the Marriage of the Lamb has Come…”      A.  You have been invited to the wedding feast of God Almighty! (Rev 19:6-7)      1.  It is time for the Bride to “make herself ____________” (2 Cor 11:2).      2.  She is sanctified, cleansed, and ready to be presented to her Groom (Eph 5:25-27).      3.  It is graciously “______________ her” (Rev 19:8). Everything is ready. Come!      B.  Just take the time to evaluate your “wedding garment” (Matt 22:11-14). 1.  Have you put on Christ in baptism? (Gal 3:26-27)
