Make Me A Servant
Make Me a Servant A servant is a person who performs duties for others. It is a person who does the will of someone else. It is an individual who must do things that are not always convenient, not always pleasant, and sometimes the things they are asked to do, are at great cost to them. A servant can also either serve willingly, or under obligation. We sing a song that states “Make Me a Servant.” Let us appreciate that for which we are asking. God’s word can help us understand what it truly means to be a servant of Christ. 1. We Become a Servant when we have a Spiritual Mindset, like Christ a. Jesus came and gave His life to serve His father (Mark 10:45) b. He is looking for those willing to do the same (Matt.20:25-28) c. Galatians 6:1-10 shows us a spiritual man and how he lives, walking by the spirit, not the flesh. (Gal.5:16-26, Rom. 8:6;14, Matt.6:33, Heb.13:14) 2. We Become a Servant when we are willing to be Humble and Selfless a. Recognize what pride does (Prov. 16:18. 11:2) b. Be willing to be humbled, lowly (Phil. 2:3, 1 Peter 5:5) c. Paul and Christ give us examples by which we can live (1 Cor.9:11-12, John 13:3-16) Jesus leads the way (Phil. 2:5-8) 3. We Become Servants when we want to glorify God by how We Live a. Paul gave his life over to Christ (1 Cor.2:1-5, Gal. 6:14) b. Jesus teaches us to glorify the Father (Matt.5:14-16, John 15:5-8) c. Others will notice our fruits and glorify the Father. (1 Pet.2:12, Phil.1:9-11) Again and again we may sing “make me like you”. It takes an eager heart and a willing spirit to truly give ourselves to be a servant of the living God. In the true sense of the word servant, let us be devoted to God and live happily under His care, serving Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

From the Treibe of Benjamin
From the Tribe of Benjamin In Genesis 49, Jacob is about to pass from this life, and he calls his sons together to offer them a blessing. To his last son, Benjamin, he says this in verse 27: “Benjamin is a ravenous wolf.” The tribe of Benjamin was known for their fierce and mighty warriors (Judges 20:15-16; 1 Chronicles 12:2; Judges 3:15). And, from the tribe of Benjamin, we see two men rise up and become great leaders – but one man allowed vices to rule his life and the other displayed the virtues of God. ______________, the first King of Israel _______, of Tarsus (Paul, the Apostle) __________ 1 Samuel 8:4-9, 19-22; 1 Samuel 9:1-2, 15-16; 1 Samuel 18:6-11 ____________ Acts 9:1-3, 8-9; 2 Corinthians 10:17; 1 Corinthians 15:9-10; 1 Timothy 1:15 ____________ 1 Samuel 13:8-11,13-14 _________ 1 Corinthians 7:7; Philippians 4:8-9 ___________ 1 Samuel 19:9-10 ___________ Galatians 5:22-23; Philippians 4:11-13 ___________ 1 Samuel 23:25-28 ____________ Galatians 5:22-23; Acts 14:8-10 ___________ 1 Samuel 17:2-3 __________ Galatians 5:22-23; Acts 24:24-25 ____________ 1 Samuel 15:1-3, 8-9 ___________ 2 Timothy 4:6-8 _________ 1 Samuel 31:3-4 _________ 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8; Acts 28:30-31

Lessons from Nehemiah - What it Means to Care
Lessons from Nehemiah: What it Means to Care George Bernard Shaw once said, "The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them: that's the essence of inhumanity." Nehemiah was a man who cared. He cared about the past, present, and future. He cared about his heritage and his ancestral city. He cared about God, 1. He cared enough to ________. "And I asked them concerning the Jews who escaped, who had survived the exile, and concerning Jerusalem..." Nehemiah 1:2 2. He cared enough to __________. "As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days..," Nehemiah 1:4 3. He cared enough to _________ "And I said, "O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments.,." Nehemiah 1:5 4. He cared enough to ___________. "O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant,,. and give success to your servant today and grant him mercy in the sight of this man." Nehemiah 1:11 Nehemiah prayed that prayer for 4 months, from the month of Chislev (it would be our December) to the month of Nisan (it would be our April). Nehemiah cared and remained steadfast - allowing God to work in his life, God is still looking for people who care, will we answer the call?

Lord, Do You Not Care - Lesson 2
There is no Sermon Outline (pdf file) for “Lord, Do You Not Care?” Quite Moments with Jesus Wilson Adams Staring connected is big business in our techno-culture. Smart phones, e-mail, Facebook, Texting and Twitter give us instant access 24/17/365. And while that has its advantages, it has equal disadvantages. For example, how much time do we spend building face-to-face relationships? Have we become addicted to phones and laptops to the point that a keyboard or I-Pad is the same to us as a nicotine fix is to a tobacco addict? Some can't seem to live without them! To some, the very idea of "unplugging" and spending quiet moments with real people is unnerving. That's sad. And how much time do we spend in quiet moments with God? Is God some distant Deity or is He your friend and confidant with whom you walk each day? That's not a hard question. Do you know about Him or do you know Him? That's not a hard question either. The majority has little understanding of how the Creator seeks intimacy with the created (lsa.43:7; John 3:16). It's equally sad how a great number of believers engage in a shallow "Sunday-only" relationship with Him-as if God lives in a box we drag out on the first day of the week. Jesus said, "This is eternal life that they may know Him" (John 17:3). How well do you know Him?* How many times have you talked on the phone this week versus how Many times you have talked with Him?* How often do you connect with friends on Facebook versus how often you connect with Him in His Book?* How many quiet moments have you had this week when you allowed yourself to find peace in His presence? Do you need to unplug? It's amazing how quiet music (or quiet nothing) can calm frazzled minds and restore a sense of calm and well-being. How many times did Jesus get away from the hustle-bustle of the day's busyness and find a quiet place to pray? Luke 5:16 says He did it often. Was He less busy than you? There never has been One with more to do and less time to get it done than Jesus. Yet He made time for what mattered. Do you? Unplug the cord, hit the "OFF" button on the remote, open your Bible, find your prayer closet, and enjoy some quiet moments with the Lord.

Training Our Powers of Discernment
Training Our Powers of Discernment A. We spent time last week exploring the foundations of a victorious mindset from1 John 5:1-5... 1. Believing that Jesus is the Christ 4. Obeying God’s commandments 2. Being born again 5. Knowing his commandments are not burdensome 3. Loving God B. ...developing a victorious mindset towards people, worship, evangelism, and personal commitment. C. In one word, our entire series was all about______________(“my view of the world and how the things of this world relate to one another”). D. Connecting the dots: 1. My Creator wants me to have an__________perspective (1 John 5:1-5; 1 Cor 15:57; Phil 4:13) 2. My perspective is shaped by my ability and willingness to__________(“to perceive,to distinguish mentally, to recognize the true value of a person, place, thing, or opportunity”) 3. When I read God’s word, I’m not only discerning, I’m being discerned! (Heb 4:12-13) 4. Since we don’t always discern as we should, our perspective suffers (Heb 5:11-14) E. If I don’t have the victorious mindset available in Jesus, what needs attention? Pathway #1: I allow myself to become “_____of hearing” I tune out the most basic principles of God’s oracles There is very little of anything significant“standing__________” me I am unskilled in the word of righteousness I am______________in my discernment of purpose, way, and end I frequently fail to distinguish good from evil I neglect to__________my faith with others I fall in disobedience I fail to enter the_______of God Pathway #2: I hear and_______with a good and honest heart I progress from the fundamentals of the faith to “solid food” What is increasingly “standing under”me leads to____________I develop skill in the word of righteousness I____________in my discernment of purpose, way, and end I distinguish good from evil by constant practice I_____________share my faith with others I walk by faith in obedience I am____________to enter the rest of God
