Corinthians 9:24-27 (KJV) 24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run
all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25 And every
man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it
to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I therefore so
run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27 But
I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means,
when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. Matthew
5:14-16 (KJV) 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill
cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel,
but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and
glorify your Father which is in heaven. Luke 18:11-12 (KJV) 11 The Pharisee
stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other
men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I
fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. Matthew 24:12
(KJV) 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Revelation 2:4 (KJV) 4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because
thou hast left thy first love. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV) 13 There hath no
temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who
will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Peter
4:11 (KJV) 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any
man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in
all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and
dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 11:8 (KJV) 8 By faith Abraham, when
he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an
inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. Hebrews
11:12-13 (KJV) 12 Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as
dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is
by the sea shore innumerable. 13 These all died in faith, not having received
the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and
embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the
earth. Hebrews 11:38-40 (KJV) 38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they
wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. 39
And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the
promise: 40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without
us should not be made perfect. 1 Peter 1:6-12 (KJV) 6 Wherein ye greatly
rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through
manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more
precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be
found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet
believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the
end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 10 Of which salvation
the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the
grace that should come unto you: 11 Searching what, or what manner of time
the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified
beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 12
Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did
minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have
preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which
things the angels desire to look into. |
