8:5-8 (KJV) 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the
flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to
be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the
law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh
cannot please God. Matthew 12:34 (KJV) 34 O generation of vipers, how can ye,
being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the
mouth speaketh. Colossians 3:1-4 (KJV) 1 If ye then be risen with Christ,
seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of
God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For
ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is
our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 2
Corinthians 6:11-13 (KJV) 11 O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you,
our heart is enlarged. 12 Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened
in your own bowels. 13 Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my
children,) be ye also enlarged. Galatians 5:16-21 (KJV) 16 This I say then,
Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the
flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these
are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye
would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the
works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance,
emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders,
drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I
have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not
inherit the kingdom of God. Matthew 7:24-27 (KJV) 24 Therefore whosoever
heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise
man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the
floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not:
for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings
of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built
his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and
the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall
of it. Ecclesiastes 12:1-8 (KJV) 1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of
thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou
shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; 2 While the sun, or the light, or the
moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain: 3
In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men
shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those
that look out of the windows be darkened, 4 And the doors shall be shut in
the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at
the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;
5 Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in
the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a
burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the
mourners go about the streets: 6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the
golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel
broken at the cistern. 7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was:
and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. 8 Vanity of vanities, saith
the preacher; all is vanity. |
