Corinthians 9:27 (KJV) 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into
subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself
should be a castaway. Hebrews 12:1-6 (KJV) 1 Wherefore seeing we also are
compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every
weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with
patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and
finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the
cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne
of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against
himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. 4 Ye have not yet
resisted unto blood, striving against sin. 5 And ye have forgotten the
exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not
thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he
receiveth. 1 Corinthians 6:8-10 (NKJV) 8 No, you yourselves do wrong and
cheat, and you do these things to your brethren! 9 Do you not know that the
unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither
fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners
will inherit the kingdom of God. Philippians 3:12-14 (NKJV) 12 Not that I
have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may
lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things
which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call
of God in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 2:5 (NKJV) 5 And also if anyone competes in
athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. 2
Timothy 4:7 (NKJV) 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (NKJV) 24 Do you not know that
those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a
way that you may obtain it. 25 And everyone who competes for the prize is
temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we
for an imperishable crown. 26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty.
Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. 27 But I discipline my body and
bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself
should become disqualified. John 10:1 (NKJV) 1 “Most assuredly, I say to
you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some
other way, the same is a thief and a robber. John 12:42 (NKJV) 42
Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the
Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the
synagogue; Matthew 7:21 (NKJV) 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord,
Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My
Father in heaven. Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV) 13 “Enter by the narrow gate;
for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and
there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult
is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Hebrews 12:1-2
(NKJV) 1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily
ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2
looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy
that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat
down at the right hand of the throne of God. |
